Oil Creek is a river that flows through both Pennsylvania and New York. It is a tributary of the Allegheny River, and joins the Allegheny in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Other main attractions along the river include the Drake Well Museum and Oil Creek State Park. Tributaries of the creek include Red Snake Creek. The creek ends near Cuba, NY after passing under Interstate 86. The creek itself was named after oil that was found along the banks of the creek prior to the historic finding of oil by Edwin Drake in Titusville, Pennsylvania, which Oil Creek flows through. Oil Creek is popular with canoeists and fishers. The creek is rated as a beginners creek for those interested in learning how to safely use canoes and kayaks. Oil Creek is a cold water fishery with bass and trout living in its waters. All anglers are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
